	NEW VOCATION SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECT
		We need to raise £10,000 more to finalize this building
	An amount will help	The project will reduce the hardships experienced by young women, widows and single parent women in looking after there families by being trained how to be self sustained.  The project will empower women by enabling them to get the skilful training and then later on become self employed. The spread of HIV Aids and prostitution will be on the decrease because they will be busy training and making money. BRIEF REPORT OF OUR MISSION TRIP TO MALAWI

On Sunday the 9^th of May 2010 Rev. Dr. Mercy Wood and I left the UK for Malawi. We went to Malawi to do a number of things. These included the following:

1. To take possession of the $325,000.00 property that our sister Ministry, Acts 3 were due to hand over to our charity – the Wood World Missions
2. To graduate 12 of our Wood World Missions Vocational Training School students in the North of Malawi who were graduating in the field of Carpentry
3. To take possession of almost 5 football pitches worth of Land that the chief of Mataponi village had donated to Acts 3 which they were in turn donating to us
4. To formally open the 27^th and 28^th Branch Churches in Malawi – in Mataponi and Blantyre respectively
5. To sort out the arrangements for the smooth handing over of all of Acts 3 projects in the South of Malawi to Wood World Missions
6. To ensure that we have a coordinator appointed in the South of Malawi to assist Rev. Dr. Mercy and I with the organising and supervising of our mission work in the South of Malawi and
7. To formally open two more orphanage Centres in the north of Malawi

Brethren in Christ, I am pleased to report that whilst we were in Malawi we were able to achieve all the above objectives that the lord had set for us. We were also able by the grace of God to do the following:

1. Preach the word of God in a number of Churches in Malawi
2. Host a conference for all our branch pastors in the North of Malawi. We met them in Rumphi and empowered them with the Word of God. We also prayed for all of them
3. Visit the orphans with some shopping
4. Visit the widows with some shopping
5. Have meetings with our coordinator in the north of Malawi
6. Increase the allowances of our faithful volunteers in the North of Malawi

The Mission trip to Malawi was so successful that the enemy wanted to end the lives of both Rev. Dr. Mercy Wood and I. As I put it at the time, the enemy wanted two for the price of one.

On our return from the North of Malawi on Saturday the 15^th of May 2010 we had a motoring accident. According to the police reports our driver was trying to overtake another vehicle but was unable to complete the overtaking and an accident resulted. Rev. Dr. Mercy Wood sustained injuries to her lips and a fracture to her pelvis and hip. She was also bleeding through her nose. I sustained injuries to my back and chest including an injury to my knee.

After the accident Rev. Dr. Mercy passed out. It took prayer, the grace of God and me constantly talking to her to for her to come back to life after an hour. I am truly glad that I was with her on this particular mission trip. I am grateful to God for sparing the life of my wife, friend and partner in Mission.

After the accident I called Randy of Acts 3 in Blantyre to arrange for another car to come and get us from the nearby Local hospital that we had managed to get a lift to. Rev. Dr. Mercy had her lips stitched in the local hospital and we eventually arrived in Blantyre on Sunday the 16^th of May 2010 at around 2am.

We had a 2 preaching engagements on that Sunday that by the grace of God I was able to honour despite the fact that I was in pain.

To cut matters short, Rev. Dr. Mercy and I successfully landed at Heathrow Airport on Thursday the 20th of May 2010. We were taken straight to St. Helier Hospital where a number of tests and x-rays were carried out on both Mercy and I. It was confirmed that Rev. Dr. Mercy had a fractured pelvis and needed to be operated on.

I am glad to say that on Sunday the 23^rd of May 2010 Rev. Dr. Mercy was transferred to St. Georges Hospital and was operated on Monday the 24^th of May 2010. She was in Hospital for almost 3 weeks and was discharged. By the grace of God she is recovering well at Home.

I will like to thank the Lord for delivering us from death.

I have started to write a book in which I am setting out the full details of our mission trip to Malawi. It will be entitled “ DIVINE DELIVERANCE”. Look out for your copy. It is likely to be out in September 2010 – during the 10^th anniversary celebration of our Ministry. All proceeds from that book will be going towards our Mission projects in Africa.

I will also like to thank all those who in prayer and in other ways have been there for my wife and I in our moment of need. May the Lord bless you.

The school provides training in sewing and computing to underprivileged boys and girls aged 13 and over.

Currently 40 girls will

train on 10 sewing machines, but the school desperately needs to buy 15 more, at £50 each, so that it can cater for the scores of girls on its waiting list.

Rev Wood’s dream is eventually to be able to give each girl her own sewing machine when she graduates.

She said: “We’re trying to bring them self-help. We want to help them start a new life and achieve something for the future.”

The idea for the school emerged some years ago during a visit to a hospital in a village in eastern Ghana.

Rev Wood was astonished to find that babies were sleeping on the hospital floor, so she and her friends donated seven baby cots to the hospital.

Rev Wood said: “The chief of the village then contacted us about the situation with many of the young people in the village.

“There were lots of girls turning to prostitution and lots of boys drinking too much because there was nothing else for them to do.

“You normally have to pay for education in Ghana.”

Starting out with nothing but a small room, the school has flourished. It has benefited from a sizeable donation of land and now provides for over 300 students.

Rev Wood said: “The school has been an incredible blessing to the local community and the surrounding villages. Many of the former students have jobs now.”

The Free Vocational Training School is one of a string of projects run by Wood World Missions. Among their other achievements is a centre in Malawi that caters for 220 orphans.

PROJECT TITLE:  SKILLS  FOR LIFE

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The project aims at empowering women with skills that can make them become self reliant economically and socially.

TARGET GROUP
The project is targeting all women more especially young girls, single parents and widows who lack skills and are struggling to make ends meet.

TARGET AREA
The school is located in an area with a lot of illiterate women who are not skilled in any job. The area has also a lot of unemployed women who can become self employed after training.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PROJECT TO THE PEOPLE OF COMBINE AKOSOMBO
The project will reduce the hardships experienced by young women, widows and single parent women in looking after there families by being trained how to be self sustained.  The project will empower women by enabling them to get the skilful training and then later on become self employed. The spread of HIV Aids and prostitution will be on the decrease because women will be busy training and making money. Money talks so the saying goes therefore with money in their pockets, the women will be able to have a say and an impact in the society. The project will brighten the future of school drop outs and those who did not have a chance to go to school by giving them a second chance for training. The project is the best tool to fight against gender imbalance existing in the area. This will be a proof that women can do what men can do if given support.
